This article will describe a simple method of calculating the Angular Field of View on an IO Industries camera.
The following information is required:
-The resolution of the active area of the sensor (if using a window, use the window resolution)
-The details of the lens which will be used on the camera.
-The size of a pixel on the sensor (for most cameras this can be found on the specifications tab of the camera on
www.ioindustries.com)
1. Calculate the physical size of the active area of the sensor.
Let W be the horizontal size
Let H be the vertical size
Let x be the horizontal resolution (pixels)
Let y be the vertical resolution (pixels)
Let px be the horizontal pixel size (um)
Let py be the vertical pixel size (um)
W = x * px * 1000 (mm)
H = y * py * 1000 (mm)
The type of lens mount on the camera may affect the field of view as well. For example if the camera is a 12M180CCX-C, the sensor size is physically larger than is supported by the c-mount aperture and vignetting will likely be present in the image. Please contact IO Industries for more information.
